The American Charitable Watersport Activities (ACWA) Foundation is a public 501(c)(3) charity started in 2023 by members of the recreational SCUBA diving community in Houston, Texas. Its purpose is the finanical support of causes that benefit SCUBA divers and others who enjoy watersports. The amount and scope of support will be based on donations received. Such causes may include:

• Marine sciences educational programs such sending young people to the Galveston Sea Camp.
• Increasing public awareness of aquatic habitats in general and specific habitats such as the Flower Garden Banks National Marine Sanctuary (NMS).
• Events and venues where underwater photographers and videographers can share their work with the general public.
• Safety related instruction and information dissemination about watersport activities.
• Installation and maintenance of mooring bouys in areas where SCUBA diving and fishing watersports are performed.
• Research into and conservation of marine and coastal habitats and species such as corals and sea turtles.
• Marine and coastal disaster recovery efforts.

A great example of the types of organizations ACWA wants to support is the Adapt-Able Foundation. As their website explains Adapt-Able Foundation is a veteran operated non-profit dedicated to bringing together adaptive and able-bodied people so everybody can have their lives changed by experiencing SCUBA. Nothing is more important to them than creating opportunities for people with physical, emotional, and developmental disabilities to enjoy SCUBA diving.
